In the morning over breakfast we discussed our next destination, Helen and I had originally intended on going to Rehoboth beach which was further east from Annapolis but then we thought it would be better to go back to Washington DC. Teresa’s had never been to DC before and we had certainly enjoyed it so much that e wouldn’t mind doing it again. Moreover, it would be much more fun seeing DC again with good friends. So we sat after breakfast and using our iPads to book a hotel in Alexandra just to the south of the DC.
It was only a 30 minute drive in convoy back to DC and after checking in we walked to Alexandra harbour and took the water taxi to Lincoln memorial. As we sailed down the Potomac River we got great sites of aircraft landing at Reagan National airport, the Jefferson memorial and the Pentagon. After disembarking at Lincoln memorial we got on the Big Bus tour and did a near full circuit through DC. Teresa loved it and found it very interesting. John had seen it all before but enjoyed being on the top of an open top double decker bus. Helen and I found ourselves showing off and giving the guided tour to Teresa. It gave us a chance to repeat all that we had discovered last week.
We stopped for lunch at the occidental café outside Willard Hotel, near the White house. It was nice day, the sky was blue and clear and sitting under a canopy of tree cover was delightful as we ate and drank. We then continued on the bus to Georgetown, John and I had a drink at the Harbour while the girls did a bit of shopping, well window shopping. When we all met up again we went to have dinner at Farmers Fishers and Bakers again, we just loved this place and so did John and Teresa. With our appetites satisfied, and he sun well and truly set, we took a tax back to Alexandra and our hotel.
