I awoke to the sound of rain on the roof of my cabin! My heart sank as I opened the curtains to see the mist of the low clouds sitting over the mountains soaking everything and dimming the light. I was determined not be chased indoors by the weather, so I put on my long trousers and rain proof top and went for breakfast in the lodge. The good news was that there was freshly made pancakes with berries and maple syrup on the menu. After breakfast I drove to Dark Hollow Falls parking area to start a short walk in the rain to see the water falls. The irony of walking in the rain didn’t occur to me at the time but fortunately the rain eased a little and the hike was quite enjoyable, I even managed a few photos! I was surprisingly tired and hungry after the short hike and decided to go back to my cabin and have a cup of tea and cookies followed by a short nap.
After my nap I dressed and went to the lodge for a drink in the bar, I ended up eating a cheeseburger in the bar instead of eating in the restaurant because it looked so nice when another customer ordered one. After my cheeseburger I went upstairs to the lounge which is the only place where I could get internet access. I booked the Comfort Inn hotel in Gettysburg, which was my next destination tomorrow. One of the guests in the lounge had a guitar and was doing a solo singing session. Nobody was clapping and he kept going on for ages, he was irritating everybody but nobody asked him to stop. In the end I had to leave and return to my cabin, it was still raining so I read a little in bed before falling asleep.
