A 2 day hike through the hills around Chiang Mai visiting the Hill tribes, staying overnight in a hill tribe village house, riding elephants through the jungle, white water and bamboo rafting.
What I experienced here
We were picked up from the BANTHAI Village Hotel in Chiang Mai where we were staying and travelled by 4x4 for a couple of hours North to Chiang Dao region. We were dropped off and started our hike stopping briefly at the some caves full of bats. We stopped for lunch in a small shack on the way before continuing our walk for about 4 hours until we came to Palong Village where we had a dinner cooked over an open fire, we stayed the night sleeping in a hill tribe hut under mosquitoe nets
In the morning we had breakfast cooked on an open fire by a woman from one of the hill tribes carrying a young baby wrapped in a sling on her back. We then rode some elephants down the mountain to the point on the river where we boarded awhite water raft and rapidly descended down the river! After this and where the river was much slower we then mounted the more sedate bamboo rafts to the end of our 2 day adventure. Finally we were taken back to our hotel by 4x4.
