This is the best value around for a village homestay. Many of them charge more than commercial hotels and they don't even have glass in their windows! I think it's important to have good values instead of price gouging. My friend, Laxmin is very nice and even has a car if you want to do some site seeing. Of course it would be extra but it would be a great value. Laxmin is really 'laid back.'
There are two schools where you could volunteer at, and they have a rice mill you could help at or at least learn about. I don't make any money out of this. How could I at 525 NRs. per day that includes 2 meals? A second person is just $2 more, including food.
You could hike to Changu Narayan or Bhaktapur and many other places. It's on the route to Nama Buddha and Penauti.
