A well located bar and restaurant, with its own micro-brewery, sat just next to the fishing port with views out over the port, Tromsø bridge and the Arctic Cathedral on the mainland. The restaurant offers high quality international and Norwegian food and opens for most of the day serving breakfast, lunch, dinner or just drinks and coffee. The restaurant has a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and all at reasonable prices by Norwegian standards. The view is free!
Meal
I ordered cod wrapped in bacon, cabbage stew, peas and new potatoes and a glass of wine, for dessert I had a chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream and strawberry coulis . The cod was cooked perfectly to achieve a moist and flaky texture whilst retaining the fresh taste of cod. The bacon was not overly strong and added to the flavour of the cod without overpowering it. The ice cream was smooth and creamy making the entire experience a delight. The French white wine went down a treat as a complement to the meal.

Atmosphere and decor
The style of this restaurant is a very much like the Cheers bar in Boston from the US hit TV show with an added full length conservatory area giving a beautiful view over the fishing port with further views out over the quay, Tromsø bridge and the Arctic Cathedral on the mainland. The bar area has that atmospheric dimly lit feel of a Boston 1950s bar with the added benefit of arched access to the heated conservatory area. A copper micro-brewery is set right at one end of the bar completing a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The tables are simple without any table cloth juts plain and simple plate mats. Near the bar there are some very inviting leather arm chairs to sink into before or after your meal. It’s a place you could spend all day unwinding in if it wasn’t for the fact that there is so much else to see in Tromsø..
Dress code
The dress code is very casual; no one is going to be dressed in a suit here unless they are a business person. Most diners are dressed in warm winter gear or summer hiking gear or just about anything goes here.
Locality
The restaurant is strategically positioned on the fishing boat Quay which is next to the Hurtigruten Quay, with views right over the bridge to the mainland and the arctic cathedral. There are two major hotels, The Radisson Blu and the Clarion Hotel on either side of this restaurant along with a few other restaurants and it is only a 2 min walk to the main high street in the City centre.
